Exact workshop times are subject to change.  In addition to 5 workshops, participants select 3 open studio sessions to complete projects started in workshops. Dinner is on your own and there are many great restaurants within walking distance.

Constructions – The focus of this workshop will be to diverge from the square and rectangle. By assembling, nailing, screwing, hinging and gluing together wood forms students will combine shapes and encaustic paints to break out of the box and jump off the wall.

Conceal + Reveal – Explore the metaphorical possibilities of your work as you conceal and then reveal images and content.

Encaustic Essentials – Whether you are new to encaustic and need to learn how to apply, heat and fuse, need a refresher or you aspire to teach the medium to others, this workshop will cover the essential information necessary to set up a safe studio and get started.

Folding Paper – Paper can be used both two dimensionally and three dimensionally to add imagery, color, and texture.  In this workshop, you will fold, dip, stitch, twist, and attach paper to create collages or structural forms that can be adhered to panels.

Going Deep – This workshop is about you, your life’s work, your passions, and your development as an artist.  Participants will take an honest look at their creative process, be guided through fun and freeing exercises that will loosen up and rejuvenate their approach to making art.  Get feedback on where you are, figure out where you want to go, and leave with a plan to make it happen.

Leaf Stencils + Organic Materials – Use fresh leaves to create stencils and embed organic materials, beach combings and other found natural matter into your wax.

Mark Making – Broaden your visual vocabulary through creative exercises designed to help you identify and develop a mark that is as unique to you as your own signature or fingerprint.

Metal/ Metallic – Learn tricks to combining small found objects, nails, and other types of metal with wax. Work with metallic pigments and metal leaf to emphasize sheen and add iridescence to your work.

Working Large – Grow your practice.  From concept design to the technical challenges of working large scale, this workshop will help you figure out how to expand your vision.  Students will work up to 18″ x 18″.

Wax Resist – Incorporate wax markings, gestural strokes, stamping, folding, batik and resist dyeing to achieve dynamic results that are uniquely your own.

Yoga – Start your day with gentle to moderate yoga and mindful meditation designed to leave you feeling strong and grounded.  Mats provided, all levels welcome.  All 5 yoga sessions count as one workshop.
